From citizen to consumer to steward

I have always been fond of art deco and art nouveau as the expression of universalism, even though the shift from colonialism/human values to capitalism/import of resources was to create more exploitation and "globalism".

The Citizens of the World became mere consumers of the multinationals' products; it still is the world we live in, we suffer in and we cause suffering to by ours actions or lack thereof.

In the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:
Nous n'héritons pas de la Terre de nos ancêtres, nous l'empruntons à nos enfants.

We do not inherit the Earth from our parents, but we borrow it from our children.

Our minds and wills must reclaim the Stewarsdhip of the Earth from those who think they can loot, pollute and kill in all impunity.

This is the battle for this century, the only one grand battle and the last fight for the Human. If we do not act now, who will be left to help later?

On a lighter touch, to go back in spirit to the notion of cherished object, or craft versus industrial process, I have decided to decorate a lamp with my/its own world. Here is the work in progress:

Work in progress - Luna Shine II

Who would take a picture on an average camera, at night, by candlelight of a dark painting?
